The winter transfer window is now just around the corner with some of world football's biggest names potentially on the move again.

Neymar smashed the world transfer record by swapping Barcelona for Paris Saint-Germain in the summer but many closer to home could follow him in big money transfers in January with speculation about the futures of Philippe Coutinho, Alexis Sanchez and more refusing to go away.

Manchester City were the summer's biggest spenders splashing over £200m on new arrivals but Pep Guardiola isn't likely to stop there with a title there for the taking.

Good news for West Ham fans: the 'dildo brothers' saga is over. Does that mean William Carvalho could be on his way to London after all?

West Ham have forgiven Sporting Lisbon for the 'dildo brothers' comment

West Bromwich Albion coach Gerry Francis will leave the Premier League club after rejecting an offer to stay and work under new manager Alan Pardew due to “moral obligations”, the 65-year-old has said.

Francis joined former West Brom boss Tony Pulis' coaching team in 2008 and has worked with him also throughout his stints at Stoke City and Crystal Palace.

Manchester City will return with a big offer for Arsenal's Alexis Sanchez in January, as they attempt to finally clinch the deal that Pep Guardiola was desperate for in the summer.

Here's Miguel Delaney with the details

Manchester City are ready to test Arsenal's resolve over Alexis Sanchez again in January

Will Spurs sign Kondogbia? The Sun report that Tottenham are preparing to bid for Geoffrey Kondogbia, as they continue to search for a long-term replacement for Mousa Dembele. The Belgian midfielder is one of Tottenham's senior players but has been hit with a succession of injury problems and is now into the final 18 months of his contract. And the paper claims Spurs will attempt to sign Kondogbia, who is currently on loan at Valencia from Inter Milan, as a replacement. But there could be complications, as Valencia insist they have already agreed a deal for the player at the end of his loan spell. Giroud urged to quit Arsenal

Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud could lose his place in France's squad for next year's World Cup if he does not get more playing time at the Premier League club, according to the national team's assistant manager Guy Stephan.

Giroud is yet to begin a league game for Arsenal this campaign, notching all three of his domestic goals as a substitute, but has started all the north London club's Europa League and League Cup matches.

The 31-year-old and fellow forward Alexis Sanchez have consistently been Arsenal's top goalscorers in recent seasons but the Frenchman has been relegated to the bench in favour of compatriot Alexandre Lacazette during this campaign.

"It's clear that he is not getting enough playing time and Didier (France manager Didier Deschamps) has already spoken to him about it," Stephan told French TV network TF1. "He has to find a solution in the coming weeks.

"He has a very good goals-to-games ratio, but he now has to play."

Giroud, who has scored 29 goals in 69 games for France, was part of the squad that progressed to the 2014 World Cup quarter-finals and the 2016 European Championship final.

Arsenal are fifth in the league and travel to 11th-placed Southampton on Sunday.

    Cesc was worried about future

Cesc Fabregas feared the end of his Chelsea career before he proved Antonio Conte wrong.

The 30-year-old Spain playmaker has won almost every major honour in his storied career with Arsenal, Barcelona, Chelsea and Spain, including the World Cup – but the European Cup is the exception.

Yet Fabregas was initially out of favour last season in Conte's first campaign. He had made only four appearances at this stage last year; this season it is 18 after he showed his worth.

"Well, I would be lying if I say that I wasn't worried," said Fabregas, speaking ahead of Tuesday's Champions League Group C clash with Atletico Madrid.

"I wasn't playing, I wasn't really part of his (Conte's) initial plans and at that point you can do two things.

"You can just give up and accept you are not going to be part of the team or the club in the future. The other is what I did, put your head down and be humble, show him that he's wrong.

"My relationship with the manager (now) is fantastic. He trusts me. He knows exactly what I can give to the team."

Filipe Luis has revealed that Diego Costa is like a caged animal in training and rued his absence as Atletico Madrid bid for a victory against his former club and Champions League progression.

Los Rojiblancos need to win and for Qarabag to at least avoid defeat at Roma at the same time for Diego Simeone's men to avoid a premature exit and fall into the Europa League.

Costa forced through a return to Atletico after three seasons at Stamford Bridge featuring 59 goals in 120 appearances, plus two Premier League titles, but is ineligible until January due to their transfer embargo and has remained in Madrid to work on his fitness.

Arsenal’s new head of recruitment Sven Mislintat has admitted he already feels the strain of his new job, telling the German media: “They expect me to sign an Ousmane Dembele each transfer window.”

Midfielder Leon Goretzka has confirmed he will make a decision on his Schalke future in January amid increasing speculation linking him with a move to Manchester United.

The 22-year-old is out of contract next summer meaning interested clubs will be permitted to approach the player from 1 January.

United have been linked to the German, who has made 12 international appearances for his country, though Schalke are ready to make him the highest paid player in the club’s history in a bid to dissuade him from leaving.

Steve Parish has promised Crystal Palace fans that relegation from the Premier League will not stop his £100m redevelopment plans for Selhurst Park.

While the Eagles have improved in the last two months under Roy Hodgson they remain in the relegation zone, climbing off the bottom spot at the weekend for the first time since the former England manager took over.

After unveiling his vision for the future of the 93-year-old stadium in Thornton Heath at a slick, glitzy ceremony at Selhurst Park, Parish confirmed that redevelopment will happen whether Palace stay up or not.

Jose Mourinho will prioritise full-backs for Manchester United in the January transfer window, and is considering acting on the club's long-standing interest in Danny Rose of Tottenham Hotspur.

The club have made it known funds will be more limited in mid-season, causing the Portuguese to constantly re-assess his plans as he considers his side's attempt to unseat Manchester City from the top spot.

Mourinho has wanted to improve his attacking options, but there are a few reasons why moves for top targets are now expected to be delayed.

Luke Shaw “deserves” an opportunity to fight for his place atManchester United and may make his first start of the season on Tuesday, according to his manager Jose Mourinho.

The 22-year-old has made just two appearances for United so far this season, with both coming as a substitute in the EFL Cup, and speculation regarding his long-term future at Old Trafford refuses to subside.

Ashley Young, a converted winger, is currently Mourinho's preferred choice left-back, with Matteo Darmian and Daley Blind also seemingly above Shaw in the position's pecking order.

Cesc Fabregas feared the end of his Chelsea career before he proved Antonio Conte wrong.

Manchester City's RAHEEM STERLING will delay contract talks until after the World Cup, the Daily Mirror says. The stall over a new deal at City could alert Real Madrid, who showed an interest in the winger two years ago, the paper reports. The England star has two and a half years remaining on his current £180,000-a-week deal.

Chelsea face a battle to keep hold of star forward EDEN HAZARD, The Times reports. The Belgian is said to be holding off from signing a new £300,000-a-week deal, a club record, in the hope of piquing the interest of Real Madrid. The 26-year-old does not want to harm his chances of a move to Madrid by agreeing a contract of more than two years at Stamford Bridge, it is reported. Contract talks are expected to resume at the end of the season.

THEO WALCOTT's 10-year spell at Arsenal could be coming to an end, according to The Sun. The Gunners are apparently happy to let the 28-year-old leave the club if a suitable offer is made for the winger in the January transfer window. West Ham and Southampton are thought to be interested in the player, the paper says.

West Ham may have to fight off Real Madrid in order to bring Russian striker FYODOR SMOLOV to the Premier League, the Daily Mail reports. The Spanish giants are said to be looking to bolster their attacking positions and Smolov has impressed. West Ham, meanwhile, also want to strengthen their squad come the January transfer window and reportedly hope to persuade the 27-year-old to move to London Stadium.
